"There is an almost sensual longing for communion with others who have a large vision. The immense fulfillment of the friendship between those engaged in furthering the evolution of consciousness has a quality impossible to describe." Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
Zen Renegade evolved from the search for peace and simplicity in an artistic life, and along the way realized that frugality, fun, freedom, and fitness wouldn't stay out of the way. Like all passions, they inserted themselves everywhere, imposed their opinions, and kept me awake until I wrote them down.
And like everything I've done in my life, my first question is "why not?" All my life, I've been the renegade that asked the hard questions, been accused of not accepting the rules, wondered why I couldn't, and questioned authority. I recycled when no one else did, studied the arts when others were at the track meet, hung my clothes outside to dry rather than use the dryer. I homeschooled my children because it was the best thing for us at the time, I bought organics and grew my own long beforeit was cool. I taught dance in the ghetto as a 25 year old white girl, I pushed back when company directors abused the artists, and I told the truth when it would've been easier not to. This hasn't always been the smoothest path however if you want to change the world, you often find yourself in the spotlight.
Since 2007, I have grown with this blog through some of life's most difficult transitions- divorce, risk taking children, the online search for a meaningful relationship, job transitions, lost and gained children, pets, and lovers ..... ya' know- LIFE!! Besides my roles as a movement artist, mother, vegetarian, health enthusiast, teacher, writer, and entrepreneur, I try to embrace a lifestyle that supports all of that- necessitated frugality, impassioned environmentalism, essential fitness and health, obligatory model behavior, and the essential exercise of setting goals to motivate the life of the self-employed.
Please consider becoming a follower (see tab at the top-seriously, I'm trying to get a little more professional about this blog), sharing my blog, or commenting if you're so compelled. A writer always appreciates feedback and comments and even the critical ones help me understand (once again) that not everyone thinks exactly the same.
